Formal cakes are for the most part statuesque, four or more tiers and have a clean, almost architectural line to them. The pattern on the outside of the cake can be as simple as a smooth finish or very intricate to reflect say, a piece of lace, a china pattern or a piece of jewelry. Less Formal Cakes take a wide variety of forms and can be the most fun for the bride and groom. These cakes can reflect a location, a specific theme, something important to the bride and groom, or just whimsy. The possibilities are limitless in the look and design of these cakes. We encourage people to put on their thinking caps and ask us to be creative. Frequently, a couple will want to be more involved in the design of a less formal cake than a formal one. Often, brides will order favors to coordinate or match these cakes, such as white chocolate seashells with a cake of that theme, or chocolate truffles to go with a ganache cake. There are a few more flavor options for less formal cakes and they are less restricted by color, texture, and design. |
